Life Support Courses

In addition approval would be given to 1 life support course per training year, provided there are sufficient funds within the study leave budget of the trainee.

ALS Courses are provided at a number of centres across the Deanery, thus hotel & travelling costs will not usually be reimbursed if trainees choose to go outside the Deanery for such courses.

APLS is not seen as a priority for CT1/2 & ST3/4 trainees – PLS course should be sufficient for junior trainees. MDSA has agreed provision of these courses with Alder Hey Hospital. MEPA is preferable to APLS for ST3/4, as APLS can undertaken in later years of training.

Trauma Course

There is currently no provision for such courses exclusive to the MDSA. Approval will be given to attend such a course, provided an ALS or PLS course has not been undertaken in the same training year

GMC Survey Popup

2014 GMC National Training Survey: what do you think about your training?

As a doctor in training, this is your chance to have your say on the training you receive.

The survey results help deaneries, local education and training boards and local education providers recognise the aspects of the training they deliver that are working well; and to take action where results indicate a need for improvement.

The survey is quick and easy to complete - it should take no more than 20 minutes.

You have until midday on 8 May 2014 to make sure your views count. Log in to your GMC Online account now where your survey will be waiting: www.gmc-uk.org/gmconline.
