Course Outline
David Whitehouse is a GDP in Blacon, Chester. He has provided outreach training for Liverpool DH & has been a DFT trainer for 2 years. He is the Clinical lead for Western Cheshire PCT & sits on the formative LPN. David is currently sitting on the committee discussing the quality criteria for the new contract.
Aims & Objectives
- To give participants an understanding of the issues surrounding child safeguarding: how to identify children at risk & what to do in these cases. To appreciate the role of others & to act appropriately, within national & local guidelines
- The principles of consent & confidentiality
- The need for a complaints procedure
- The principles of teamwork & the responsibilities of managing people & resources
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
- Gain knowledge of the legal requirements of safeguarding, who to consult & refer to & how to handle cases of neglect & abuse
- Be able to gain informed consent
- Be able to demonstrate an awareness of the laws surrounding confidentiality
- Aware of & can use effectively a complaints procedure
- Know when, how & to whom raise concerns with
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the necessity for good teamwork
- Be aware of the aspects of managing people & resources
