Welcome to Postgraduate Dental Education and Training

Young child brushing their teeth

The end of Dental school represents a watershed in the life of many Dentists. This however is the beginning of an intensive program of postgraduate education to help these graduates to achieve a specialist status whether in primary or secondary care.

Dentists rely on continuous professional development to keep their clinical practice up-to-date and develop their skills. For NHS staff, a range of organisations from individual hospital education centres to the national Royal Colleges and international associations, provide educational courses and in-service training.

Mersey Postgraduate Dental Education co-ordinates the delivery and funding of dental education for Chester, Crewe, Liverpool, Macclesfield, St Helens & Knowsley, Sefton, Southport and Wirral. This website explains how we work and the structure of postgraduate dental education in the region.
