Foundation Dentist Year 1s attend a course of (at least) 30 study days spread over the year. The study days take place away from the training practice, usually at the regional postgraduate medical centre.
The Mersey Deanery Dental Foundation Training Scheme (2011/2012) will comprise of 4 schemes (see below) with educational study days based at Postgraduate Centres in Chester, Clatterbridge, Aintree and Speke. Each scheme is allocated 12 Foundation Dentists Y1.
Each scheme has an allocated Scheme Advisor, who manages the scheme and organises the educational content. The Regional Advisor oversees the whole programme. Administration of each of the schemes is done by the Deanery.

It should be noted that whilst the study days are located in the centres below, clinical practice is carried out in approved Dental Training Practices throughout the region.

The Mersey Deanery Dental Foundation Training Scheme organises four courses for General Dental Practitioners under the national regulations.
The four schemes are Chester, Clatterbridge, Aintree and Speke.
