Trainer Recruitment 2014 to 2015

If you are interested in applying to be a DFT trainer for 2014 to 2015, we will be holding a Dental Foundation Trainer Recruitment programme on 17 October 2013. Please view further information and how to register.

The Foundation Year

Dental Foundation Training Year 1 introduces Dentists to General Dental Practice and gains them access to a PCT performers list on satisfactory completion of the year. This is mandatory in the UK for all dental graduates from UK Dental Schools who wish to practice in the National Health Service.

These one-year posts are intended for Dentists who have recently qualified and are looking to obtain a VT certificate in order to pursue a career in the National Health Service.

Practice placement

The one-year Dental Foundation Training Post consists of placements in General Dental Practice or the Salaried Dental Services.

Successful candidates will work in an approved practice either five days per week, or (on weeks including designated and mandatory study days) candidates will work fewer days per week (e.g. 35 hours and 29 hours per week respectively).
