Ground Rules
Time-keeping
Foundation Dentists Year 1 (FD1s) are required to be on time for the Study Day Course, even when travelling to a venue other than the Postgraduate Centre. We regard this as a matter of courtesy to our lecturers and speakers, many of whom will have travelled long distances to make presentations at our Study Days.
Appropriate dress
Although it is not necessary to wear formal dress, smart casual dress is expected at the Study Day Course; Foundation Dentists Year 1 (FD1s) are requested to remember that when visiting professional organisations, such as the Dental Practice Board, The British Dental Association and the General Dental Council, or attending outside courses, other members of the profession will be present and on these occasions all FD1s will be expected to dress in an appropriate manner.
Failure to attend Study Day Course
In order to complete the Dental Foundation Training Scheme all FD1s must attend 30 Study Days during the Dental Foundation Training year. Failure to complete the 30 days will result in non-certification at the end of the year. If for any reason you are unable to attend a Study Day, i.e. due to sickness, then you must either inform:
- Your Dental Foundation Training Advisor/ Course Organiser
- Dental Foundation Training Manager, Karen Stowell-Smith Tel: 0151 285 4743
as soon as possible. You will be required to "make up" any missed Study Days by attending a suitable alternative course, this must be done in conjunction with prior arrangement with your Trainer and Dental Foundation Adviser.
Additional Receipt:
Cheques sent to the Dental Foundation Administrator in respect of payment for accommodation arranged etc. will be acknowledged by a receipt letter, this letter should be enclosed with your FP84 Claim Form when making your claim for reimbursement. Duplicate receipt letters will not be issued. Completed FP84 forms must be submitted to the PCT and not to the Deanery.
