Study Leave Guidelines

All trainees who hope to work long-term in a field where trainees will be based should aim to accredit themselves as an Educational (or at least a Clinical) Supervisor. This includes relevant specialty portfolio training, Tools of the Trade, Equality and Diversity, Doctors in Difficulty, and Appraisal and Assessment.

Training in Education skills is also mandatory for supervisors, regardless of whether you have dual accreditation or not (i.e. G(I)M accreditation plus your own specialty).

Each Trust will have it’s own study leave rules and funding limits. You should arrange your study leave with those guidelines in mind.

All events recorded are deemed essential or core to training (and so will affect progression/RITAs/ARCPs) unless stated otherwise.
