The Lache Health Centre is situated south of the River Dee and is housed in a 1970’s Health Authority building, bordering a local council estate.
There are 4 GP principals and the usual compliment of primary health care staff serving a practice population of 6000.
The practice population covers a wide section of social class and provides Registrars with a diverse experience of General Practice.
We have a well integrated primary health care team including in house counselling and physiotherapy.
The practice is fully computerised (Premiere Synergy) "paperless" and "online".
Out of Hours
This service is provided through Western Cheshire PCT.
The practice has a long history of training. Dr Suzanne Macdonald has been a trainer since 1998 and Course Organiser since 2002. Special interests include medical education and GU medicine. She is also an MRCGP examiner.
Dr Kevin Guinan has been training since 2003 and has interests in Dermatology (GPWSI and clinical assistant at Countess of Chester) and IT.
The partners are all very supportive in Training:
Dr Huw Charles-Jones and Dr Iola Coleman-Smith work part time. They have been trainers in the past and are both appraisers. Dr Charles-Jones is the Child Protection Lead for the PCT while Dr Coleman Smith is also an MRCGP examiner and CSA case writer.
The Training Experience
During your attachment you will attend the Chester half day release course held at the Countess of Chester. In addition there is two hours of protected tutorial time a week and a session for protected study time/admin.
The practice is busy and you will be exposed to all aspects of general practice. Our Team will support you educationally and we hope you will have a positive and enjoyable learning experience.
There is a dedicated registrar consulting room.
Please feel free to contact the surgery to speak to our current Registrar for any further information, or our Practice Manager Julia Bailey to arrange an informal visit.
