Within a few minutes driving from Chester, we are a small friendly well-established practice committed to high standards of medicine and intensive coaching of our Registrars in preparation for Summative Assessment and M.R.C.G.P.
We have splendid roomy premises refurbished throughout. The Registrars have their own designated room and have a digital video camera dedicated to their own use. The trainers give comprehensive help with video consultation and audit preparation. The practice closes one afternoon a month for Doctor and staff training (‘Protected Learning Time’).
The Registrars have protected tutorial time and also “hot topic” and review of consultations after every surgery. Registrars are encouraged to attend (and accompanied to) the clinical presentations held at the Post Graduate Education Centre at the Countess of Chester held on Friday lunchtime (‘grand round’). In addition to the half day release on Thursday afternoons the registrar has a further half day off.
Our computer system is Isoft Premiere Synergy the windows based software and we are paper light. Prescribing is done on the computer, as are clinical consultations.

The out of hours training will be organised by the General Practice Department.
In the meantime, Dr Birch continues to do regular out of hour’s sessions for the P.C.T. and any registrar hoping to gain knowledge and experience in this area would be able to take part in these on a voluntary basis.
The practice has facilitated a number of interested registrars in doing specific project work and extending their training by a further six month period.
We have a great track record in having registrars who not only have been successful in passing MRCGP as well as summative assessment but also enjoyed their stay with us.
