The Hospital has approximately 3,000 deliveries per annum and has a level 3 Neonatal Intensive care Unit.
The Unit provides core obstetric ultrasound training and specialist clinics including colposcopy, urogynaecology and infertility. Minimal access surgery (including endoscopic uterine surgery) is well established in the department.
The Department has a well-established training programme with regular departmental meetings and audit meetings. There are twice weekly CTG meetings on labour ward to review recent cases. In addition, a Grand Round occurs on Friday lunchtime. The K2 CTG training package is mandatory for all staff working on the obstetric unit. Fourth year undergraduates from the University of Liverpool attend for clinical training. We also regularly have SAMP students in their final year
The on-call is a fully compliant shift shared between 5 SPRs and 4 staff Grades.
