The Mersey Deanery will give trainees at least 6 weeks notice to provide the necessary documentation for their review.
Trainees will not be 'chased' to provide this documentation by the required date and should be aware that failure to do so can result in the panel failing to consider their progress and an unsatisfactory outcome being awarded. As a result the trainee may not have acquired the necessary competencies to progress in the specialty under review.
Failure to produce timely, adequate evidence for the panel will result in an incomplete outcome (Outcome 5) and will require the trainee to explain to the panel and Deanery in writing the reasons for the deficiencies in the documentation.
Less Than Full Time Trainees: The GMC now wants Deaneries to provide evidence that all trainees are seen at least once a year, so your e-portfolio will be considered but you will not receive an ARCP outcome or certificate.
Final Year Trainees: Those reaching their CCT will be required to attend a face to face ARCP to sign off their Postgraduate Training.
Trainees will also be required to attend an Interim Review. This consists of the specialty meeting with trainees throughout the year to assess progress. If a trainee is not achieving the required standard, the Chair of the panel MUST inform the Lead Associate Dean within 24 hours.
