Less Than Full Time Trainees
The GMC requires Deaneries to provide evidence that all trainees are seen at least once a year.
Interim Portfolio Reviews are required for trainees who are due for an annual Portfolio Review but are unable to progress to the next level of training due to working less than full time (LTFT).
The Portfolio Review Panel will review a submitted portfolio and give a provisional outcome for the trainees experience to date. A full ARCP Outcome can only be given when the annual progression Portfolio Review takes place.
Final Year Trainees
All trainees reaching their CCT date are required to attend a Face to Face ARCP to sign off their Postgraduate Training.
Prior to the Portfolio Review
All evidence uploaded needs to be approved prior to the Portfolio Review in order for the panel view.
All trainees need to register with the Royal College of Pathologists to gain access to the Learning Environment for Pathology Trainees (LEPT) System.
The Mersey Deanery will give trainees at least six weeks notice of the date by which the necessary documentation is required so that trainees can obtain structured reports from their educational supervisors.
Failure to produce timely, adequate evidence for the panel will result in an Incomplete outcome (Outcome 5) and will require the trainee to explain to the panel and Deanery in writing the reasons for the deficiencies in the documentation.
If a trainee is not achieving the required standard, the Chair of the panel must inform the Lead Associate Dean within 24 hours.
All trainees should be receiving weekly educational supervision from their supervisor who will also complete an induction review/PDP, and later a midpoint review, to be uploaded onto the trainees’ online portfolio.
You need to be regularly updating your portfolio with evidence of training, learning and experience with the inclusion of personal reflection.
You need to ensure that you have covered all parts of the curriculum relevant to your stage of training, so that you can present your portfolio at your ARCP. Your Clinical and Educational Supervisors can provide guidance.
If you have any questions regarding your Portfolio Review, please contact your Programme Director.
