The Enhanced Form R is an annual requirement in line with the Annual Review of Competency Progression (ARCP) Process. Failure to submit annually:
- Reported to the Head of School
- May result in a meeting with the Postgraduate Dean
Welcome to the Mersey Deanery
The Mersey Deanery is responsible for the education, training and funding of all junior hospital doctors and dentists within the Mersey region.
The Mersey Deanery works in conjunction with the Lead Employer which is based in St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Lead Employer is responsible for the employment of all Doctors in specialty training programmes with hospital placements.
Professor David Graham is the Mersey Deanery Postgraduate Dean and Dr Margaret Bamforth is the Lead Associate Dean for the School of Pathology.

Change of Personal Details
All trainees MUST have an up-to-date email account this will be the primary method of communication from the Deanery.
It is the Trainee’s responsibility to inform the Deanery and the Lead Employer of any changes to personal details supplied in the Enhanced Form R.
ARCP’ s will be conducted on a yearly basis.It is trainee’s responsibility to update their e e-portfolio and return an Enhanced Form R.
Trainee’s responsibility to have all relevant sections signed off.
The School Administrator will inform trainees of their Portfolio Review and ARCP dates which will also be on the Mersey Deanery website.
The ARCPs for Pathology occur in June and November.
Trainee’s will not be invited to the Portfolio Review but may be invited to ARCP.
The Deanery now also requests a sickness report from the Lead Employer prior to the reviews.
Any trainee with more than 14 days sickness in a year will be highlighted to the panel and their CCT date may need to be altered.
Enhanced Form R
Paragraph 7.68 of the Gold Guide states the return of Enhanced Form R annually to the Deanery plus the signed annual outcome will enable the trainee to renew their registration on an annual basis with the Deanery and support annual registration with the relevant College.
The Enhanced Form R is requested via email from the Postgraduate School Administrator on an annual basis in line with your Portfolio Review and Revalidation Process.
It is to be returned no earlier than 4 weeks prior and no later than 3 weeks prior to your Portfolio Review.
The Enhanced Form R is a requirement for the Revalidation Process therefore you will be required to attend the ARCP Panel if you fail to supply when requested.
