The Health Education North West (HENW) (Mersey Office) is responsible for the education, training and funding of all junior hospital doctors and dentists within Cheshire and Merseyside.

Specialist trainees in Cheshire and Merseyside are employed by the Single Lead Employer: St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Single Lead Employer is responsible for the employment of all specialty trainees in Cheshire and Merseyside.

Mr Graham Lamont is the Deputy Postgraduate Dean and Dr Margaret Bamforth is the Associate Dean lead for the Mersey School of Pathology.

Change of Personal Details

All trainees MUST have an up-to-date email account. This will be the primary method of communication.

It is the trainee’s responsibility to inform HENW and the Single Lead Employer of any changes to personal details supplied in the Enhanced Form R.

ARCPs

ARCPs are carried out on an annual basis.It is trainee’s responsibility to update their e e-portfolio and return an Enhanced Form R and to have all relevant sections signed off.

The School Administrator will advise trainees of their Portfolio Review and ARCP dates which will also be on the website.

The ARCPs for Pathology are held in June and November annually.

Trainees will not be invited to the Portfolio Review but may be invited to attend ARCP.

Enhanced Form R

Paragraph 7.68 of the Gold Guide states the return of Enhanced Form R annually to the Deanery plus the signed annual outcome will enable the trainee to renew their registration on an annual basis with HENW and support annual registration with the relevant College.

The Enhanced Form R is requested by email by the School Administrator on an annual basis in line with the portfolio review and revalidation process.

Enhanced Form Rs are to be returned no later than 3 weeks prior to your Portfolio Review.

The Enhanced Form R is a requirement for trainee revalidation. Trainees will be required to attend ARCP Panels if they do not return completed Enhanced Form Rs when asked to do so.
