School Board

The Board proactively supports the Postgraduate Dean in the quality management, development and commissioning of medical and educational training across the North West (Mersey).

The Board meet 3 times per year. The next dates are as follows:

Friday 14th February 2014 2 p.m – 5 p.m; Boardroom 1 – Ground floor
Monday 2nd June 2014 2 p.m – 5 p.m; Boardroom 1 – Ground floor
Friday 3rd October 2014 2 p.m – 5 p.m; Boardroom 1 – Ground floor
Monday 9th February 2015 2 p.m – 5 p.m; Boardroom 1 – Ground floor

Professor James Barrett, Head of School, chairs the meeting on behalf of the Postgraduate Dean, and oversees the School of Medicine. He works closely with the School, the Lead Employer and the various trusts to ensure the quality of training offered to our trainees via the construction of rotations run effectively and efficiently, whilst offering support to the Specialty Training Programme Directors.

The Core Medical Training Programme Director is responsible for the training of all trainees in the Core Medical Training Programme.

The Specialty Training Programme Directors are responsible for training of all trainees in their specific sub specialties.

The Academic Representative ensures that trainees have adequate opportunity for exposure to academic medicine and will advise on the establishment of specific academic opportunities in the School of Medicine.

Trainee Representatives are the trainees’ point of contact if they wish to raise any issues. The School of Medicine values the views of trainees as important stakeholders within medical training.
