General Information

This scheme is located in Speke, Liverpool at the Partnership for Learning Building. The scheme encompasses training practices in and around Liverpool, St Helen’s, Wigan, Warrington and surrounding areas.

Most study days take place on a Friday, but there are occasions when attending meetings further afield, such as visits to the GDC or external conferences when the date will change.

The course has a minimum of 30 study days and follows the COPDEND DFT Year 1 curriculum.

In addition to attending a minimum of 30 study days, Foundation Dentists Year 1 (FD1s) are issued with an electronic dental foundation training portfolio.

FD1s are also required to complete an audit and a minimum of 3 core skills, which are portfolios of evidence completed to the standard laid down by the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners for the MJDF examination.

You will be required to complete the following core skills:  Infection Control, Medical Emergencies and Radiography.  All of these topics are covered in the study day programme.
