About Us

The Psychiatry section of the website contains details for both the Mersey Core Psychiatry Training and Higher Psychiatry Training schemes.

The Mersey Deanery School of Psychiatry has a number of specialties that delivers Postgraduate Training within the 3 Mental Health Trusts based in Merseyside & Cheshire and the Royal Liverpool Children’s NHS Trust (Alder Hey Hospital): 

5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust
Merseycare NHS Trust

Each school has a Programme Director who is responsible for all trainees within a speciality.

Core Psychiatry Training is overlooked by the Core Psychitary Training Committee which has representatives from each Trust, Academic representative, Trainee representatives and a Deanery representative.

The School of Psychiatry Board provides support to the Postgraduate Dean in the development of effective commissioning of Psychiatry training in the Mersey Deanery.
